Eyelash Extension Application Course
Part 2: Practicing on your mannequin head

Now that your mannequin head has been prepped per the last section's video and directions, you're ready to start practicing applying eyelash extensions.

The videos go through the steps you will take to get comfortable applying the lashes.

Let's start getting you comfortable with the tweezers...

STEPS:

1. Hold your tweezers like you are throwing a dart at a dartboard. Get comfortable holding the tweezers. Remember: Your isolation tweezer is held in your non-dominate hand and your application tweezer is in your dominant hand.

2. Hold each tweezer closed and go through the lashes one-by-one as shown in the video. This will help you become comfortable.

3. Repeat this exercise twice per eye before proceeding.

Watch the demonstration below...video will play in a loop so watch it a few times.

Let's practice isolating a single natural lash...

STEPS:

4. Practice isolating 10 lashes on each eye.

Watch the demonstration below...video will play in a loop so watch it a few times.

Now, the best part...start applying the lash extensions!

STEPS:

5. Isolate a "natural" lash and hold the isolation in place while...

6. You pick up a lash extension from your lash strip, and...

7. Dip the lash extension in the glue covering about half of it.

8.  Apply the lash extension parallel to the mannequin's isolated lash. Hold it there for a second to let it dry.

9. Repeat this on the other eye.

10. Continue applying on one eye and then the other until all "natural" lashes have an extension applied.

Watch the demonstration below...video will play in a loop so watch it a few times.

Once all your lash extensions are applied...

STEPS:

11. Using your fan, dry the lashes for about 30 seconds. (not in video)

12. Mist the lashes with the nanomister for about 3 seconds to cure the glue. (not in video)

13. Brush the lashes with the mascara wand. (not in video)

14. Using your tweezers, go lash-by-lash checking your mannequin's lashes for "stickies". "Stickies" is a term used to refer to two or more lash extensions stuck together.

(demonstration below...note: my demo mannequin doesn't have a full set of lash extensions on but yours will at this point.)

STEPS:

15. Using your tweezers, unstick any lashes stuck together. Use one tweezer to hold one lash and the other tweezer to hold the other lash and pull apart.

Watch the demonstration below...video will play in a loop so watch it a few times.

STEPS:

16. Use your mascara wand to lift the lashes and look for any lashes stuck to the eye pad. If any are stuck, grab the lash and pull up to unstick it.

17. Brush the lashes one more time.

18. Remove the under eye pad.

Watch the demonstration below...video will play in a loop so watch it a few times.
